NEWSOn Sunday, September 10 2006, the DC Area Bass Players gathered for their second, quasi-regular Bassist-in-Front jamboree at the Bangkok Blues restuarant in Falls Church, VA. Featuring an open mic and swap meet, the event ran from 2pm - 6pm. See also Pete Durgan's site.Washington DC Area BassistsWelcome! This is the home of DisCoBol, the District of Columbia Bottom Line, or for layfolk and guitar players, the Washington DC Area Bassists community website. We have a mailing list that has been active for over 10 years. This site and mailing list is devoted to all things bass in the Washington DC area. Well, almost all things bass; if you're looking for the kind of bass you pull out of the Potomac, and that tastes great grilled in butter and garlic, you're probably looking for the Potomac Bass Fishing site. Since you can tune a bass, but you can't tune a fish (ha ha), please note that dcbass.com is unaffiliated with dcbass.org. If on the other hand, you're looking for the kind of Bass that's all pale, frothy and delicious, look here. Needless to say, we're not affiliated with them either (but if they want to send us a case or two, we won't return it...) While we say we're focussed on Washington DC, you're welcome to join us where ever you live. Of course, if your not local, you may not know the clubs or stores we're talking about, and you may not be able to make the announced gigs, but you can join in the fun anyway. And you don't really have to be a bass player to hang out here, as long as you aren't easily offended at drummer jokes. We want the list to be bass-centric, but if you're looking for a bass player or otherwise want to hang out here, that's fine too. You might just get the bottom end religion. Players of all skills, styles, instruments, number of strings (from 0 to 12+), and interests are welcome. Also welcome are gig announcements, gear questions, self-promotional plugs (within reason), brushes with fame, and the latest Geddy Lee sitings. We do occasionally have get togethers, and we try to post pictures of the events here:
